Meadville 1 Girard 0 Double Overtime

The Lady dogs were able to pull out a 1 0 win over the Girard Yellow Jackets Saturday Afternoon at Barco-Duratz field. Girard is a well coached team, and they did a wonderful job defensively. Kailynn Noon, former Meadville Alum, has done a wonderful job with her team. The Jackets have two wins over Fort Lebouf and one over McLane. They continuously made us work to connect passes, and for the shots we took

Although Meadville dominated possession, they were unable to finish in regulation. The halftime speech, end of regulation speech, and between overtimes the only word Coach Miller emphasized was "FINISH." We had so many opportunities, yet we we hit over, wide, or to the keeper. Meadville's defense did an awesome job of supporting offensive attacks, or becoming a part of them as well, but we just didn't finish. Coach Miller was pleased with his senior corp of Mercier, Chess, and Brown, and felt that Riley Olson was becoming more involved and a part of the group.

We were operating out of a new system, which the girls have done well to learn in just one practice, yet we didn't score. Girard would put some pressure on our end, but we were quick to take it back down to them. Finally, with five minutes left in overtime, We got the ball to Alayna Zieziula, and she was attempting to dribble outside, so much so that our outside mid fielder had to quickly open to give Alayna space. Zieziula then cut it back in and a defender was screening the goalie. She was able to drive the ball low, and Girard's keeper never saw it coming. Meadville is now 7-4-1 on the season, and travels to Villa on Monday.
