Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Warren Area HS School

Game Date
Sep 2, 2017
Score
BULLDOGS: 4
WARREN AREA HIGH SCHOOL: 2

Barco Duratz Field in Meadville Saturday September 2

Meadville was able to bounce back from its mistakes for a 4 to 2 win over the Warren Dragons in a very physical match on Saturday. The two teams last met in the playoffs last season and Meadville came away with a 3 0 win. Warren's passing was much improved since the last time we met, and they were out hustling us at critical moments in the first half. (Coach Miller)

Meadville came out strong possessing the ball nicely, but unable to finish. Warren was constantly able to take adavantage of Meadville's misques, and McKenzie Buckling was able to score the first goal of the match off a direct kick. Our wall was not formed properly, and she was able to drive a nice ball near post.  "I have to take the blame for the poorly formed wall, and we will correct this at our next practice (Coach MIller).

Meadville was able to tie up the game when Karalyn Adams found her baby sister on a through ball. Elizabeth did a wonderful job  of maintain her composure and found the back of the net to tie up the game.

Not long after that, Meadville had a series of passing mistakes, and Kiley Wilson came up with the ball and found McKenzie Buckling for her second goal. At half time Coach miller reminded his players that they were losing last year to Waren at the half 2-0, during the regular season before coming up with a 6 4 win.

After the half the Lady Dogs passing and speed of play picked up, and Karalyn Adams was able to find Junior outside midfielder Faye Vidoni for the equalizing score. Much like last years regular season game, we possessed the ball left to right, and were able to get our outside mids more involved, which would free Liz Adams up. Karalyn was able to find her sister for her second goal. Jadyn Jurek would find Liz again for her third goal with seven minutes remaining.

Warren is a very competitive team, and they are much stronger than last year. What helped Meadville the most was the play from their defense. Sidney Brown and Mckenna Mercier did a wonderful job in the second half, but I was equally impressed with our outside defenders Riley Olson and Morgan Schreck. Morgan had some bad touches early in the second half, and took them to heart. However, she got herself collected, supported the offense, and made some critical defensive players
