Meadville 3 General Mclane 0

Meadville improved its record to 2 and 0 on the season with a victory over the Lancers. Although Meadville won, General Mclane was a much improved team from last year, and did a much better job possessing the ball. They utilized their keepers well, and did a nice job of counter attacking the entire game (Coach Miller). We didn't play horrible in the first half, but we seemed to lack intensity. Eventhough the lady dogs were not playing at top speed in the first half, outside defender Morgan Schreck was not only able to push up and support the offense, but shot a ball that Liz Adams got to her and looped it over the goalie to give Meadville a 1 0 lead at half.

At halftime, we discussed the effort behind our passing left to right, and thirty seconds into the second half Karalyn Adams took a pass from her sister Elizabeth and hit a ball from thirty yards out that was out of reach of the keeper. What set up the play was a beautiful series of passes by Alayna Zieziula. Alyana is a player who sees the field wonderfully and connects all the dots for us. She is truly unselfish, sees space, and finds players. She was also involved in the play of Karalyn Adams third goal. Karalyn was striking the ball well tonight, and it is what this team needs to do more of--shooting long. In the second half, we were much better connected and more players became involved in the passing, especially our defense.

We were very proud to have a defensive shut out. Seniors Ashley Chess, Mckenna Mericier, and Sidney Brown deserve a lot of credit for their hustle and intensity. All have great chase down speed, but more importantly they can see open players and help with possession. I don't know how many times each of these players have helped their goalies, but I do know they take pride in their defensive performance. Both keepers managed an outstanding game from behind, and were ecstatic with their defenses performance.  I can remember when I had difficulty fielding just one keeper, and now I continue to be blessed with two.

Meadville doesn't have time to rest, because the Lady Trojans of McDowell come to town on Thursday at 4 pm.
